Adjunct, Introduction to Biological Feedback Control

Boston University Boston, United States

About the position

We are looking for an instructor to teach a graduate course, “Introduction to Biological Feedback Control”, in the Spring 2027 semester at Boston University. This is an interdisciplinary course that examines the basic concepts of feedback control from different perspectives in natural sciences and engineering. The course is open to graduate students and senior undergraduate students from all engineering, natural science, physical science, and data science backgrounds. The course content is structured around six units, each of which uses current research and peer-reviewed literature to explore in modest depth an example of biological or bio-inspired feedback control and some of the mathematical and physical models/tools that can be used to design and/or analyze the systems.

The class meets two days a week for 1h45m each day, on Boston University’s Charles River Campus. The expected enrollment range is 20-35 students. Students come from diverse disciplinary backgrounds including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, and other programs.

This course is an entry point for a graduate training program in biological feedback control. As such, the instructor can join a growing community of students, faculty, and staff in this growing field of study.
