Position Description

The Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) at Boğaziçi University invites applications for multiple tenured or tenure-track faculty positions, preferably at the Associate Professor and Assistant Professor levels. We welcome outstanding candidates working in all areas of data science. Areas of particular interest include:

• Predictive Data Science
• Big Data Systems
• Cloud and Data Engineering Systems
• Business Intelligence and Decision Analytics
• Social and Human-Centered Data Science
• Cognitive Data Science
• Data Science for Health, Finance, the Environment, and Society

Candidates are expected to hold a PhD from a leading university, demonstrate a strong publication record in top-tier international journals and/or leading venues in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistics, information systems, and computing, and show a strong commitment to high-impact research, excellence in teaching, graduate student supervision, and service to the academic community.

• A cover letter including contact information;
• A curriculum vitae;
• A research statement of no more than three pages describing past research achievements, future research plans, and experiences demonstrating a commitment to a diverse and inclusive research environment;
• A teaching and mentoring statement of no more than three pages describing teaching philosophy, previous teaching and mentoring experience, future teaching plans, and experience fostering an inclusive learning environment;
• A list of two to four individuals who can provide letters of recommendation on the candidate’s behalf. Letters will be requested after the initial round of application review;
• Representative publications. Publications in leading journals and conferences in data science, machine learning, statistics, artificial intelligence, information systems, databases, and computing—including KDD, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, EACL, IJCAI, SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, TheWebConf, CVPR, and comparable venues—will be considered a strong asset.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, or a closely related field. Review of applications will begin immediately.
