About the position
The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) invites nominations, applications, and expressions of interest for a forward-thinking, mission-driven academic leader to serve as the next Dean of the Feik School of Pharmacy.
The Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP) was established in 2004 to advance the University's mission of service, education, and improving healthcare access across San Antonio and South Texas. Rooted in the values of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, FSOP is dedicated to educating a diverse student body, including many first-generation learners, and preparing pharmacists to serve the region's growing and predominantly Hispanic population. Since welcoming its first class in 2006 and graduating its inaugural cohort in 2010, the School has produced approximately 1,300 alumni and has become a leading contributor to the pharmacy workforce, with 25% of all licensed, active pharmacists in Bexar County being FSOP graduates as of 2025. The School has maintained continuous ACPE accreditation since its inception and is recognized for outstanding student outcomes, including a 97% NAPLEX pass rate for the Class of 2025, a 92% residency match rate for the Class of 2026, and a 95% pharmacy employment rate, reflecting its commitment to educational excellence, diversity, and community impact.
Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Dean serves as the chief executive officer of the Feik School of Pharmacy, providing visionary leadership in advancing the School's educational, research, service, and community engagement missions. The Dean champions student success, faculty development, and staff engagement while serving as the School's primary ambassador within the University, the profession, and the broader healthcare community. Responsible for fostering innovation in pharmacy education, advancing interprofessional collaboration, cultivating philanthropic support, and stewarding financial and human resources, the Dean will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of FSOP.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven leader with a deep understanding of the evolving pharmacy and healthcare landscape. The Dean will demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and service to diverse communities while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Candidates must possess a Pharm.D. or Ph.D., credentials appropriate for appointment as a tenured faculty member, and a record of progressive leadership within a college or school of pharmacy.
As the largest Catholic university in Texas, UIW serves a diverse student population of approximately 10,000 individuals globally.
