POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITION AVAILABLE TO CHARACTERIZE DNA
BINDING OF A NEW CLASS OF PHOTORECEPTORS

A position is available for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory
of Dr. David Kehoe in the Department of Biology at Indiana
University Bloomington to characterize the DNA binding activity of
novel photoreceptors in marine Synechococcus using DNA
/protein biochemistry and computational approaches. This project is
funded by the NSF Systems and Synthetic Biology Program and builds
on our successful initial studies of Type 4 Chromatic Acclimation
(CA4) as described in publications in Proceedings of the
National Academy of Sciences USA and Annual Review of
Microbiology. Briefly, this project will focus on determining
the DNA binding sites and light color-regulate binding activities
of two novel photoreceptors we have identified as master regulators
of CA4.

Basic Qualifications

A Ph.D. in molecular biology or biochemistry is required, in
addition to at least two years’ experience in transcription factor-
DNA binding research. Knowledge of prokaryotic signal transduction
and transcriptional control is desirable but not essential. Only
candidates who are U.S. citizens or who have a currently valid visa
for research work in the U.S. can be considered for this position.
