Molecular genetic analyses, gene expression analyses, genomic analyses, and related approaches will be used to elucidate the functions of sex-determining genes on the sex chromosomes and their roles in sex chromosome evolution.
This research will be conducted as part of the basic research activities of the Ion Beam Breeding Group, which aim to understand the relationships among genes, chromosomes, and phenotypes through mutation-based approaches. The successful candidate will also collaborate with researchers participating in the “Sex Chromosome Cycle” research area to advance our understanding of the mechanisms of plant sex determination and sex chromosome evolution.
